Times of special need are common for everyone. We might desire the prayers of the church. Someone might call, offering to lend a listening ear. We might need a few home-cooked meals to be brought to us. A homemade card might arrive to lift our spirits.
We believe that it is unnecessary to go through times of pain on one’s own. Jesus calls his followers to gather and to “do life” together in community.
Here are some of the ways our cathedral congregation is striving to incarnate these values:
- Stephen Ministry offers trained members of the congregation who provide one-to-one ministry through listening and care.
- Clergy are available to talk and pray with during the week, including and especially for hospital visitation.
- We maintain a list of prayers with intercessions published weekly.
- On Sundays, a Prayer Ministry is available for those who desire the intercessions of the church. (Currently this offered during Communion, in the Chapel of St. Mary.)
- A calling ministry offers presence especially with those who are homebound.
- Greeting cards are sent to many members each month just to let them know someone is thinking of them.
- Meals may be arranged for delivery to those who need this form of support during times of stress and/or convalescence.
Are there ways we can be of assistance? Let us know.
